8/11/09 Practice Recap & upcoming practice info

On our 2nd practice, The Dirtbags faced the Heat from Mother Nature. The kids worked really hard on more baseball fundamentals - and I was proud that they stuck with the coaches through the hot temps.

The "Practice Prize" has officially become a Dirtbag tradition and also a "hit" with the boys! This weeks winners of baseball cards for the most accurate throw to First Base was Palmer F. #9 and Jackson G. #15. Great throw kids!!! Our big hitters from practice and owners of a miniature Dirtbag bat were Brody H. #4, Andrew H. #11 and Lucas D. #18.

The Coaches have really seen many positive things from our team and can’t wait to see the boys in action for years to come. Keep up the GREAT work Dirtbags and the same to all the parents. Keep practicing with your child –catching, fielding, throwing and hitting. IT REALLY SHOWS WHO IS WORKING HARD OUTSIDE OF PRACTICE.

This Tuesday, August 18th, the Dirtbags will have a scrimmage against each other, a 6 player on 6 player game. So if you cannot make it to practice please let me know ASAP!

We possibly will have a 2nd practice this week to try to get the kids acclimated for Saturdays game. I am going to check on a couple of days and see if a field is available (I will keep you posted). If you can make it, we would love to see ALL the Dirtbags there.

OTHER NEWS :
We should be receiving our schedule soon, but I have heard that we will play on Tuesday nights and Saturday afternoons. Our first game is possibly Saturday, Aug. 22, so pencil the date in! Once we receive a schedule I will send it to you all immediately.

I wanted to mention again that we are looking for sponsors. We would like to get our sponsor banner going soon but only have a few businesses so far. Thanks ahead of time for your willingness to seek donations for our team.
